October 2016, traveling south
I’m a fan of city and county parks. Most often they are low price and sometimes, like Thorsness Park in Lake Preston, SD, they are free. This is a small city park and includes electric. These sites were all back-in and I selected one because I was looking to get the morning sun (it was chilly overnight). But when I plugged into the electric, it was bad. So I changed to another site. There was no one there that day to tell, but I emailed them later. Otherwise, it was a nice stop. Just one picture of my site:
Because I was unhooked, I took a ride over to see the lake and drive around town before settling in for the night.
From here I visited friends (and unfortunately had to cancel some stops with friends) – and stopped in various overnight spots and lucked into this rest area along the Frontier Military Scenic Byway in Kansas – another one of the seredipity places you can’t plan for:
The following pictures are informational ones I took on the trail around the rest area walk mainly regarding the Frontier Military Byway.
If memory serves me correctly, there was a dump station here, also. Nice place to stop.
Next stop, TX.
