The past couple days have been something else. Conni’s daughter was over and the 3 of us were sitting talking when my phone rang the other day. Birdie was on the other end to tell me our friend Liz had been in an accident and was in the hospital near me. Conni and I headed over immediately. Luckily Liz, whose rig got totalled, only has suffered a cracked rib and some aches and pains.

Birdie, Conni and I took a ride while Liz was still being tested and got some valuables out of the rig. Yesterday all 4 of us headed back and got EVERYTHING out – and unloaded into Conni’s garage. Unfortunately, Liz’s cat, Bandit, escaped and so far hasn’t been found or sited. Today, Liz and Birdie got pictures and posters distributed in the area.

The car that caused the accident was carrying the woman driver and her baby. From all accounts, the baby is fine, but the woman was still in intensive care this afternoon. Please keep them in your thoughts. Here’s a link to a newspaper story of the accident (don’t like the wording, but pretty much is accurate):

Liz has already started the search for her new home. Wish her luck in finding one quickly and at a good price!

Today was also Conni’s court date for probate court. I went with her, and somehow at the courthouse lost my cell phone. I’ve been up-in-arms with Verizon, but thought, what the heck, would be easier to just go to Verizon and get a new phone (with a new 2 year contract) than to change – so we headed to a Verizon store. I even told Conni I was going to be super nice – cuz I just wanted to get this done. Well, being nice doesn’t work with stupidity and idiocy. My contract had me due for a new phone at a discounted price in 3 weeks. I showed that I already was up for a discount, just not the full amount. I was asking, very nicely, if they thought they could help me since I had a “free” phone upgrade available in 3 weeks, but really couldn’t be without a phone for that time frame. I’d already been told no by their phone customer service, but thought maybe a store would be nicer. Well the told me they were going to help me. Then the proceeded to push me into the most expensive phones. And when I asked what the price would be – there was NO discount at all from anyone coming off the street to get a new phone for the first time. I asked where even the discount I’m eligible for was – and they said, I couldn’t get that. They finally said I could get a maximum of $30 off on some different phones – but NONE of the smartphones. I asked what happened to the manager who told me “we are going to take care of you” and told the salesperson to give me a waiver to get the price I would be eligible for in 3 weeks and got nothing there, either. I thought I was mad, but you should have seen Conni. She saw red lol. Nice to have a friend with your back.

We went on to an AT&T shop and I got a phone. And when they heard my story THEY offered me a discount. Then further into it, the manager came out and said they wanted to take care of me and more than doubled the discount they had offered that I already was thrilled to receive. I can’t imagine I’ll ever go back to Verizon.

I’m going to be learning my new phone and everything it does for a long time to come – so far so good. Tonight I figured out how to use it as a hot spot with my computer and it worked like a charm. Next, I’ll set up the tethering. I’ve already used the GPS in it.

That said, were were dealing with phones for so long, that Liz and Birdie were stuck sitting outside. And we couldn’t call them. I only had their #’s in my phone, which was lost. When we finally were headed back to the house, the phone rang and it was Birdie – and we were able to say we were on the way. I felt bad. Liz is finally feeling some of the pain, and here she was, stuck outside. I do know they went to eat, and back to Birdie’s rig for a bit – but wish they could have known what was happening. Poor Conni, also! I was with her for support and we spent more time dealing with my phone loss.

Tomorrow I head out for the get together of my friends from my women’s rv group and single’s rv group. It’s hard to be leaving Conni, but she’s invited to join us anytime, and I will not leave the area without seeing her again. But it’s also going to be good to see so many friends. Now, if only I’d gotten my car and rv washed – and things organized – am lucky my sheets got washed today hahaha.

I’m exhausted but can’t sleep – so thought getting myself caught up here would be good.

Oh, almost forgot – Sunday I was able to have a wonderful day/evening visiting with many of my friends from my days at Pioneer. Sheryl and John invited me for dinner – and we realized how much we miss each other – hopefully we won’t let so much time pass before getting together again. And while at Pioneer I saw so many others – felt like I was back at home. I’ve missed all of them. (Hope they missed me, too!) And you should have seen Peaches. She saw people she hadn’t seen since April of 2009 and she remembered them – dragging me to some sites, and so thrilled to see some of them. Don’t ever let anyone tell you dog’s forget their friends!

Stay safe all of you – and hug your loved ones.
